Hi there!  Thank you so much for checking out my little farm.

I’m Steph and my boys and I grow cut flowers near Gretna, Nebraska! You can find us, our bouquets, along with the occasional worm castings, bins, and seed bombs most summer Saturdays at the Gretna Farmers Market. I grew up on a U-Pick pumpkin farm here in eastern Nebraska. After working in the veterinary industry for 16 years, I went back to my farming roots a few years ago when I needed an outlet. I still work in vet med but I get to come home to my flowers all over and that means so much to me!

Here’s what makes my flowers different than what you’d get at the grocery store:

  • They all grow in my backyard just north of town (Gretna). So this means -- they'll last waaaay longer.
  • My kids run into them, kick balls into them, and have been known to fall in them. (That one time…)
  • My dogs sometimes eat them (in his defense some of them DO look like grass until they bloom).
  • I start them from seeds in my little basement and I baby them all winter until I throw them out to the wild Nebraska weather in springtime.
  • There’s no pesticide. No herbicide. I pull weeds like some kind of animal and plant my flowers DENSELY. I pick the Japanese beetles off of them with my hands. Ok, I don’t. The boys do.
  • Hunter, my 11 year old, has a few worm farms to feed the flowers with and has been known to be my worm/bug guy (see Japanese beetles above).
  • Parker, my 8 year old, I would call the Quality Control guy. If stems are short or a new variety isn’t quite what I’ve taught them we want - he’s more than happy to pull those out of the ground for me.
  • They’re grown with so much love and sometimes (ok, often) some curse words.
  • They’re grown to be wild and beautiful and colorful all on their own. (I’m not much of a pastel kind of girl.)

And I’m SO HAPPY you’re here! I would love it if you could share my page with your friends and family too!

Thank you for supporting my little dream.

Additional Employees

The Fellas

My boys are sometimes a reluctant part of my flower farm but they're always around and often helping me in some way. They are my Chief Bug & Worm Guys with their fun facts and they're not creeped out by the Japanese Beetles the way I am.

Sherman - Part 1 of The Advisory Committee

As a senior (read geriatric) member of my little team, Sherm takes his role here of checking the sunlight quality VERY seriously. He is blind and has no idea somedays that he's walking through or into your flowers. You may find some of his fur on your bouquets from time to time - those are special. You can often find him basking in the sunshine or snoozing away in the air conditioning - there is no gray area.

Mabel - Part 2 of The Advisory Committee

Also a senior member, Mabel came from a strong background of bunny control. She raised my babies with me; protected them and loved them as if they were her own. She stole food off the counter, raided the pantry and trash, and had regular trash parties if given the chance. She loved roaming the flowers with me every night and was a HUGE part of our family.

She passed away at home after a stroke in August, 2024 at the age of 13.

The Worms

These guys...Hunter works diligently to take care of his little worm farms to create worm tea and castings to feed the flowers. If you're looking to start your own worm bin, contact us and Hunter will give you all the tips. He also builds and sells the bins!
